The Enchanted Oceanic Treasure

Delve into the mystical realm of MIRA's pearls, where every gem tells a tale as old as time. Picture the alluring depths of Tahiti, home to the enigmatic black pearl, shrouded in legend and lore of Tane, God of Harmony and Beauty. Their form and brightness inspired Tane to create the stars.

Also imagine ancient Chinese emperors, who revered pearls as symbols of wisdom and nobility. The society believed that pearls were originally conceived in the brains of dragons. On the other hand, the black pearl was regarded as a symbol of wisdom. As such, it was guarded between the teeth of the dragon. Each MIRA pearl is not just an ornament but a fragment of history, a piece of the world's soul.

What is South Sea Pearls?

South Sea Pearls are among the most coveted and prestigious pearls in the world, renowned for their exceptional size, lustrous sheen, and rich, satiny colors. Originating from the large Pinctada maxima oyster, these pearls are primarily cultivated in the warm, pristine waters of the South Sea, encompassing areas like Australia, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Myanmar.

Distinguished by their impressive size, which can range from 9mm to 20mm in diameter, South Sea Pearls are much larger than the average pearl. Their unique luster, a deep, radiant glow, is a result of the thick nacre that forms in the warm waters of the South Sea. This thicker nacre not only contributes to their remarkable sheen but also ensures their durability.

The colors of South Sea Pearls vary exquisitely, from the classic white and silver to the rare and sought-after golden hue. The variation in color depends largely on the oyster species and the environment in which they are grown, and is especially marked by the color of the oyster’s lip.

How We Redefine Pearls

In our prestige Zurich atelier, located in Tödistrasse 46, MIRA redefines pearls, challenging the notion that they are meant only for the aged. Our pearls are timeless treasures, meant to be passed down through generations yet infused with modernity. They bring a new touch, suited for everyone, regardless of age or gender. Universal and unisex, MIRA pearls are designed to adorn the contemporary soul.

Sustainability & Fair-Trade

Pearls were once only found in nature, a rare and unpredictable gift from the sea. However, humans have learned the art of pearl cultivation, bridging the gap between nature's whims and our desire for these precious gems.

Harvesting South Sea Pearls with MIRA is a careful and sustainable practice, ensuring both the preservation of the marine ecosystem and the oysters themselves. The cultivation process is time-consuming and delicate, requiring years of nurturing before a pearl can be harvested.

In essence, South Sea Pearls embody the perfect blend of natural elegance and rarity, making them highly prized possessions and symbols of luxury and sophistication in the world of fine jewelry.

Direct from the source, MIRA commits to sustainability and fair trade. In collaboration with local pearl farms across Indonesia and the word, we ensure every pearl is harvested with respect for both the environment and our community. From the hands of the pearl farmers to yours, each pearl is a pledge to ethical elegance.

Expanding our horizons, MIRA also brings to you the refined Akoya Pearls from Japan, sourced directly from their cultivators, and the mysterious Black Pearls from Tahitian Polynesia, in partnership with the farmers of French Polynesia.
